Eunisses Hernandez Launches Campaign for LA City Council

Eunisses Hernandez, a policy advocate for communities most devastated by criminalization, the war on drugs, and mass incarceration, announced today that she is running for LA City Council District 1.

Hernandez, is the Director & Co-Founder of LA Defensa, an organization that challenges punitive approaches to public safety through public education and across-movement collaboration.

A few weeks ago, Tamarindo podcast spoke to Hernandez to discuss police brutality on people of color and how La Defensa works to address racial disparities in the Los Angeles justice system. The episode includes Nicolve Chavez, from CNN’s Race and Equality team, who reports about how race relations and inequality impact the lives of people of color. Chavez reported extensively about the aftermath of the 2019 Walmart shooting in El Paso, Texas —the deadliest attack on Latinos in modern history. Listen to this powerful episode and get to this candidate that could represent one of the most vibrant parts of Los Angeles.
